Patient Code of Conduct

As your neighbors and health care providers in the Greater Boston area, we are here for your well-being.  Our Code of Conduct intends to create a safe, mutually respectful, harm-free, healing environment for all.

 

Promoting Safety and Security

  • No weapons
  • No illegal or dangerous items
  • No illicit drug, alcohol, smoking or vaping on premises
  • No verbal threats

Communicating and Acting in a Respectful Manner

Verbal or written threats or physical acts that cause harm or fear for one’s personal safety, aggression, disruption, discrimination, or harassment are not acceptable behaviors. This includes:

  • Offensive and insulting remarks
  • Yelling or swearing
  • Intimidating or threatening language
  • Throwing, hitting, punching, or kicking objects
  • Physical intimidation or attempted assault
  • Disrupting other patients’ care or experience
  • Non-consensual or unwanted romantic advances or unwanted physical contact
  • Taking photographs, video or voice recordings of others without their consent

Code of Conduct Violations

  • If you violate the Code of Conduct, future care at NeighborHealth may require review and you may be discharged from care. *This does not apply to emergency department treatment under EMTALA.
  • If you are a visitor, you may be asked to leave the premises, and future visits may be restricted.

 

If you are a patient, family member, or visitor and are the target of any of these concerns, please report your concerns to a staff member.
